Summary A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court to stop the mid-term elections in the country.

It was maintained in the petition filed by former federal minister J. Salik with the help of his lawyer that only an interim decision was made over the pleas filed about 18th Amendment and the matter was still under review. The petition maintained that mid-term elections should be delayed till the final decision on 18th amendment pleas. Federal government, provincial governments and chief election commissioner were made party in the petition.
