Summary Ahsan Iqbal chaired meeting comprising Islamabad Chief Commissioner, IG, SSP and Deputy Commissioner
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal is yet to take any decision for further action with regard to operation against Faizabad sit-in and countrywide protests occurring in reaction.
The Federal Minister for Interior chaired a high-level meeting in the presence of Islamabad Chief Commissioner, Inspector General (IG), SSP and Deputy Commissioner, Top security officers from police as well as senior officials of Rawalpindi and Islamabad administrations were present in the discussion.
Rawalpindi administration, police officials and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah also joined the meeting through video conference.
Sources revealed that despite the two-hour long discussion, no decision was reached while Islamabad police and administration advised against another operation against Faizabad sit-in including devotees of Sunni Tehreek and Tehreek-e-Labaik. Interior Minister will apprise PM Abbasi over the lack of decision in the meeting.
Earlier, Chief Commissioner, IG and other officials had also discussed the situation with Rangers in Islamabad.

The federal government has issued a notification and directed Pakistan Army to send troops to take control over the capital s security and ensure peace. 111 Brigade along with civil law enforcement agencies will control the law and order situation of Islamabad till further orders.
At least seven people lost their lives with over 200 injured in the security operation carried out by police, Rangers and FC personnel after more than two-week long anti-blasphemy sit-in by religious parties at the Islamabad interchange. The operation was ordered by Interior Ministry in a bid to implement the orders of Islamabad High Court.
