Summary The Supreme Court on Wednesday has said that instead of waiting for courts orders the government should recover the embezzled amount of the Pakistan Steel Mills.
During the hearing of the Steal Mils case, Production and Industry Secretary Abdul Ghaffar Soomro told the court that the Steal Mils had suffered the loss of Rs 37 billion since 2008.He said that the Federal Investigation Agency could recover only Rs 160 million. The FIA had issued notices to 16 defaulters and gave them 15 days to return the amount.The chief justice remarked that the FIA director general spoiled the case. He said that the FIA, leaving out the real culprits, only pursued those accused who were identified by the FIA director general.The chief justice said that the Rs three billion recovered in the case were the collection of the Steal Mils workers. The court summoned the detailed report of the deficit of the steal mil on March 9 and adjourned the hearing.
