KARACHI (Dunya News) - Former Sindh information minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Memon who was taken into custody by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday after the Sindh High Court (SHC) rejected his bail plea in Rs 5.76 billion corruption case has been enjoying minister’s protocol in jail.
The accountability court has sent Sharjeel Inam Memon and other co-accused on judicial remand till November 4 in a case regarding alleged involvement in Rs 5.76 billion corruption.
Sindh government has provided minister’s protocol to Sharjeel in jail. At least eight prisoners have been deputed to look after the provincial assembly member.
Sharjeel Memon has been kept in the same VIP ward where former president Asif Ali Zardari was imprisoned. He has been provided air conditioned accommodation having refrigerator and television. A laptop has also been provided to him.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah along with five ministers visited Sharjeel Memon in jail in an apparent show of solidarity and also played cards with him. The meeting lasted for around three hours. According to sources, Sharjeel Memon also enjoyed a home-cooked food in the jail.
