Summary The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to allot electoral signs to political parties on permanent basis.
The ECP held a meeting with political party representatives on Tuesday. After the meeting, EC Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed told the media that preparation of new voting lists will be started soon. He said that under article 63, citizens having dual nationality are not qualified for parliamentarian post. He said that the commission has fixed the expenses limit for MNAs at Rs 0.5 million each and Rs 0.3 million for each MPA adding that it has also been decided to fix fee at Rs 1 lakh for independent candidates. He informed that door-to-door voter registration campaign will be launched from June 2011.
