GILGIT (Dunya News) - An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale jolted Gilgit and its adjoining areas in the wee hours of Thursday, Dunya News reported.

People came out of their homes in panic and started reciting verses from the Holy Quran. No loss of life and property was reported due to earthquake.

According to National Seismic Monitoring Centre, the epicenter of the quake which struck on early Monday morning was located 35 kilometres southwest of Skardu at the depth of 15 kilometres.
