PHC removes ban on mobile phone in DI Khan

Summary Peshawar High Court has ended the 17-month-long ban on cellular phone services in Dera Ismail Khan District.

A two-member bench of Peshawar High Court’s Dera Ismail Khan Division restored the usage of mobile phone in the district after 17 months. The court ordered the administration to restore the cellular phone services in the district immediately. The mobile phone services in DI Khan, Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts were suspended when ‘Operation Rah-e-Nijat’ was launched in South Waziristan. Journalists, lawyers and civil society organizations protested against the ban and Dunya News had also aired several news and reports on the issue. People of DI khan expressed satisfaction over the lifting of ban by the court orders.
