Summary PM's lawyer said that arguments don't mean that SC can't hear the Panama Papers case.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan has continued arguments in Supreme Court (SC) and said that implementation of article 62(1f) and 63 is different.
A five-member larger bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa resumed the hearing. Other judges in the bench include Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan.
During the hearing, PM’s lawyer said that arguments don’t mean that SC can’t hear the case over which Justice Asif Saeed Khosa remarked that article 62, 63 can be applied as per facts in Panama case.
The counsel also read out Dr Mubasshir Hassan case’s verdict that was announced in 2009. He said that federation didn’t act on the instructions in the case.
Makhdoom Ali Khan argued that on April 1, federal government was asked to write letter to Swiss officials whereas PM was sentenced on April 26, 2012.
On May 4, the case was again raised in SC due to rolling of Speaker after which the court ordered to de-seat Yousaf Raza Gillani on June 19.
Talking to media, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Naeem-ul-Haq expressed hope for early decision on Panama Leaks case. He said PM has left with nothing for his defence after BBC report and Imran Khan’s arguments.
