Summary Sadiq Babar says Turkish president's visit to enhance ties between two countries, visit high profile

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Turkish ambassador to Pakistan Sadiq Babar has on Tuesday said that Turkish President Teyyep Erdogan’s visit to Pakistan will help enhance and expand the relations between the two countries. He said that Erdogan’s visit will be high profile, reported Dunya News.

Talking to media after attending a seminar in Islamabad, Sadiq Babar said that Erdogan’s Pakistan visit was highly important.

Babar said that the two governments were keen to bring their countries closer in line with the tradition of their ancestors. He avoided discussing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying that he didn’t want to discuss local politics.

He added that Turkish dramas were gaining great popularity in Pakistan. “Pakistan is a beautiful country and I’d advise Turkish tourists to visit Pakistan”, he said.

Turkish president is due to visit Pakistan on Wednesday. He will also address a joint session of Pakistan s parliament on this occasion.

It is pertinent to mention here that PTI is currently observing a boycott of the parliament. PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi had sought an appointment with the Turkish president during his visit for party chairman Imran Khan and other leaders but the Turkish ambassador instead advised them to attend the parliamentary session for Erdogan s address.

However, Imran Khan announced earlier today in a press conference that PTI had decided not to end its boycott. He said that he respected Turkish president and the love of Turkey s people for Pakistan.
