LAHORE (Dunya News) – After the Federal government decided to give a relief package to the farmers in the Federal Budget, Punjab government followed its footsteps and plans to provide smart phones to six hundred thousand farmers across the province is now underway, reported Dunya News on Monday.

The purpose of providing the smart phones to farmers would be to provide them details regarding weather beforehand. The software in this regards shall be made through the joint contribution of the Information Technology (IT) board of Punjab government and the Meteorological department.

The farmers shall also be provided interest-free loans up to Rs 70,000 on annual basis via e-crediting whereas they shall also be given training in regards to using the smart phone.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif has given permission to the authorities to proceed with this project in a meeting held through a video link.
