LAHORE (Dunya News) – Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday stated that the credit for the decline in corruption goes to Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N), citing a report published earlier by Transparency International (TI). CM Punjab stated that this does not mean in anyway that corruption has been completely eradicated from the country; however the reduction in such cases due to steps taken by the government was welcoming news.
CM Punjab expressed these views during Dunya News program “On the Front”.
CM Punjab further added that the report reinforced that a policy based on transparency was effective.
Pakistan has been ranked first in South Asian region in the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) score released by the Transparency International (TI) on Wednesday, reported Dunya News.
Pakistan, once ranked in the top five most corrupt countries in the world, now does not even come in the first 50 countries in the ranking.
