LAHORE (Dunya News) - The local court in Lahore on Thursday reserved a verdict on the plea seeking extension in suspects’ physical remand in Lahore rape case.

According to details, the investigation officer during the hearing requested the court to extend the physical remand of the suspects apprehended in the gang rape case of an eighth grade student.

Subsequently, the court granted time to the officers by reserving verdict over their plea.

Earlier, the court also summoned the Lahore rape victim on December 31 to record her statement. The girl and the suspect Adnan Sanaullah were presented before the judicial magistrate.

Due to the absence of the defence lawyer, the statement of the victim was not recorded.

A 15-year-old girl was kidnapped and then allegedly intoxicated and raped by as many as six to seven persons in a guest house on Mall Road on December 25.

The victim was shifted to a hospital where the medics confirmed sexual assault.

The eight suspects including the key person Adnan Sanaullah nominated in the FIR of the case were arrested on immediate basis by the police as the government took notice of the incident and directed police to nab the culprits as soon as possible.

They were later sent on a three-day physical remand by the court for interrogation.
