ATC remands Haroon Bhatti into police custody for seven days

KARACHI (Dunya News) – An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi has handed over the head of banned outfit’s ‘death squad’ Haroon Bhatti to the police on a seven-day remand today (Saturday).

The personnel of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) took the suspect to the court amid tight security. During the hearing, the investigation officer told the court that Haroon Bhatti was involved in several heinous crimes including attack on Allama Nasir Abbas on December 16, 2013.

The suspect, member of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s founding bench and a head of target killing group, was also found guilty in the assassinations of eye specialist Syed Ali Haider and his younger son who were gunned down on February 18, 2013, he added.

Policeman also claimed that the criminal has confessed to have planned a major terror bid during Muharram 10 in Lahore.

Subsequently, the court remanded Haroon Bhatti into the custody of police for seven days.

Earlier, Haroon Bhatti was nabbed in Dubai with the joint strive of Interpol and Lahore police personnel Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) CIA Muhammad Umar Virk confirmed the detention of the terrorist.
