Summary CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali asked to submit the report on overall target killing cases.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Thursday has disapproved the report of Sindh police over target killing in Karachi and directed the law enforcement agency to submit a detailed and comprehensive report in this regard.

The hearing was conducted at SC s Karachi registry during which the Additional Inspector General presented a complete description over targeted killings.

The police report stated that 22 cases were declared A Class, 42 cases related to lawyers’ assassinations were registered, as many as 14 charge sheets were filed in trial courts while about 11 cases faced adjournment motion.

It further said that accused persons in two cases were convicted, while only one suspect was acquitted.

Chief Justice Ameir Hani Muslim expressed discontent over the report and called for a fresh detailed report, demanding to include how many cases have been declared A Class as corruption has been seen in police department while filing a terrorism case.

Meanwhile, CJP Anwar Zaheer Jamali asked to submit the report on overall target killing cases, not only lawyers’ killings.

Earlier, SCP also rejected Sindh Police’s report regarding target killings of lawyers, ordering the authorities to mention the number of challans presented, total number of murderers caught and other details.
