ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission spokesperson on Monday clarified that political parties’ demand regarding resignations of the commission members is not under consideration.
Different political parties including PTI, PPP and PML-Q demanded resignations of the provincial EC members after massive irregularities were confirmed in several constituencies during the 2013 general elections.
On Saturday, Imran Khan announced to hold a sit-in in front of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Islamabad if its members do not resign by October 4.
The leadership of the opposition parties demanded that new members of the ECP be appointed after consultation with them once the existing members step down.
