Summary PTI has fielded Aleem Khan for NA-122 by-election and Shoaib Siddiqui for NA-147.
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Political parties have launched campaigning for by-elections in NA-122 and PP-147 constituencies of Lahore on Monday.
The election tribunal had declared the results of both constituencies as null and void and ordered the Election Commission to hold re-polling.
The decision was announced on petitions filed by runner-up candidates belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The tribunal had de-seated PML-N s Ayaz Sadiq from NA-147 and Mohsin Latif from PP-147 after massive irregularities were confirmed.
This time, the PTI has fielded Aleem Khan as its candidate for NA-122 by-election and Shoaib Siddiqui for NA-147 by-polls.
On the other hand, PPP has started conditional campaigning for the by-elections. PPP candidates Barrister Amir Hassan and Iftikhar Shahid have said that they will withdraw from the elections if the negligent ECP members did not resign from their posts.
PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi stated that his party will not take part in the by-elections until incumbent ECP members step down.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers have also set up offices and started campaigning for votes in NA-122 and PP-147.
