ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Sindh and Punjab governments have refused to hold local body polls in October. Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will present the stance of provincial governments in Supreme Court on Tuesday, reported Dunya News.

A high-level meeting under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza Khan took place in the federal capital. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretaries, Additional Secretaries and officers of Election Wing of Punjab and Sindh.

According to sources, the provincial governments have not agreed to hold local body elections in October. The reason cited by the provincial governments is that due to month of Muhar

ram, adequate amount of security forces will not be available. The elections, provincials governments stated, should be held in November and December.

ECP will present the stance of provincial governments in Supreme Court on Tuesday, as per sources.
