Summary A faction of traders will hold strike on August 5th as well

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A large number of prominent markets in major cities remained closed to observe strike on the matter of withholding tax on banking transactions, Dunya News reported.

According to details, complete shutter down strike was observed in Peshawar and Faisalabad while in Lahore, all major markets remained closed except for Urdu Bazar.

Key markets of Karachi, Rawalpindi and Islamabad also remained shut while in Faisalabad, clashes were reported over forced shut down of shops.

The traders in Karachi appeared confused over announcement of two different dates for the strike. Sindh Traders Union endorsed the strike and the Karachi Electronics Dealers Association kept the shops shut while partial strike was observed by some major markets as well.

All major markets remained shut in Lahore as well. Beadon Road, Mcleod Road, Circular Road, Akbari Mandi, Shah Alam Market, Anar Kali, Hall Road, Mall Road, Hafeez Center, Liberty Market among many other remained closed while the Urdu Bazar remained open.

Partial strike was observed in Rawalpindi and Islamabad as well.

Balochistan traders including those in Quetta remained distanced to today’s strike while a shutter down strike will be observed on August 5.

Another faction of the traders called for strike against the withholding tax on August 5.
