LAHORE (Dunya News) – Government has geared up to empower women in the country as after the women protection bill, the authorities have been now suggested to reserve Rs 10 crore in the budget to provide the working women with the facility of scooties, Dunya News reported on Saturday.
This step would help the working females to easily travel on their authorized scooties whereas some women also showed reservations over this recommendation and stated that the current situation of traffic in Pakistan won’t allow them to use scooties.
However, the project will be started on experimental basis from Lahore and then it will be extended to the other districts. Punjab government started working on this project in March 2014 and made a committee to work on the project.
According to the sources, government first asked two manufacturing companies of Japan to bid their offers who agreed to provide scooties on a price of 2 to 2.5 lac, but afterwards a Chinese company was contacted which will provide 50 cc scooties on the rate of 80 thousand.
