KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Revenue Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday will present tax free budget worth more than Rs 739 billion.
The minister will also announce at least 20,000 more vacancies and 10 percent increase in basic salaries of employees. It has been recommended to reserve at least Rs 160 billion for annual development programme. Education sector will get the biggest share of at least Rs 144 billion while health Rs 55 billion after a 35 percent increase than the last fiscal year.
It is likely that Sindh Police will be given Rs 62 billion keeping in mind the law and order situation in the province. Department of local government has been recommended to be given Rs 50 billion while a special grant of Rs 5 billion has been reserved as reward for the departments with exceptional performance.
A recommendation suggests increase in budget of agriculture, irrigation, food, energy and works and services departments by at least Rs 4 billion to Rs 8 billion.
Shah will also announce special packages for big cities including Karachi for mega-projects. Funds worth more than Rs 55 billion will be reserved for mega-projects including mass transit and water and drainage system in Karachi.
It has been recommended that a certain amount is reserved for development projects in Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mirpur Khas, Sukkur and Larkana.
The revenue ministry will further reserve a share for as many as 50 new public schools and colleges and three new hospitals.
As many as 1,000 flats will be built in Lyari for impoverished and the homeless.
