KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh High Court rejected the Pardon Plea of Inspector General (IG) Sindh and other police officers on Tuesday. Their charge sheet will be announced on 28th of May. IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali, Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Qadir, DIG South and Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) South presented in front of court on the notice of contempt of court case.

IG Sindh gave the argument that they need to reach Ghotki and they are also investigating the Safoora incident, to which Justice Sajjad Ali Shah said that court will talk to Chief Secretary about their substitute. “When Justice Maqbool Baqir was attacked, 5 policemen were killed protecting him and we are ready to die protecting you as well”, said IG Sindh to Justice Sajjad Ali. To which Justice Sajjad said that if some policeman died while performing his duty then he was fair with his work, “you should also be fair”, said Justice Sajjad to IG Sindh.

Court said to DIG West that any officer who will mislead the court, will lose his job. Chief Secretary Sindh Sadiq Memon and Home Secretary Mukhtar Ahmed Somro stated in the report submitted to court that they do not know who ordered the police to beat journalists outside Sindh High Court. Report stated that Major Retired Saleem took action on his own behalf.
