Summary MQM leader Haider Abbas said that allegations were uncalled for and legal action would be taken

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said on Thursday that MQM would take legal action against the recent spate of accusations by SSP Rao Anwar. The accusations, he said, are bent on maligning the party, reported Dunya News.

Talking to the media, MQM leader Haider Abbas Rizvi said that his party is being subjected to a media trial. He said that the people of Karachi had given mandate to MQM in the previous elections. He stressed on the latest NA-246 elections in which the party had asserted its position in the city.

Expressing displeasure at the tone of SSP Rao Anwar during his press conference, he said that his party is being labeled as ‘enemy of state’ and agents of R.A.W.

He labeled the SSP as ‘murderer of MQM’ and called him a man of ‘disrepute’.

Haider Abbas Rizvi said that the recent spate of allegations against his party reminded him of early 90s when his party was targeted discriminately adding that torture was norm during 1992 operation in Karachi.

He denied the allegations made during the SSP s press conference and pleaded to the masses to rethink as to who will benefit from the results of such a press conference.

Calling the allegations made at the press conference held by the SSP as ‘blatant violation’ of lawful procedure, Haider Abbas Rizvi said that Tahir, the man who had been shown at the press conference held by SSP Rao Anwar, was arrested earlier than the date that had been declared by the police officer.

Haider Abbas Rizvi also refered to a ‘top level meeting’ that took place in Chief Minister (CM) house on Wednesday night, saying that the intent behind such a gathering is still unknown to him.

Responding to a question, Haider Abbas Rizvi said that Asif Ali Zardari met with Chief Minister and another important third personality in CM house.

Haider Abbas Rizvi refused to elaborate further on the   third personality   adding that the media should probe further into the matter to get to the depth.

Labelling the 4 crore people of Sindh as the  power base of MQM, in addition to its following present in all parts of Pakistan, he called the MQM as ‘the third biggest political force’ in the country.

Citing MQM s opposition in Sindh as a possible reason to why some  forces  are agitated with the party, he called into question the reputation of the said SSP and inquired as to who is  pulling the strings  in the backdrop.

Calling the arrests of party workers, raids on the Nine-Zero headquarters and open discrimination against the party workers a norm, Haider Abbas Rizvi said that the party is stronger than the circumstances.

MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar also spoke on the occassion in response to a question. He further said the  high level meeting  between the CM and Asif Ali Zardari could be a  regulation meeting  but the presence of a certain  third personality  casts shadow to the intent behind the gathering.

It should be noted here that MQM s press conference came in the backdrop of allegations leveled by Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwar who held a press conference with an alleged terrorist.
