Summary Many incidents of clashes reported, rangers called on many polling stations to control the situation
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Clashes between Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters left 9 injured in Chungi Amar Sidhu area of Lahore on Saturday.
Cantonment Board election held after 17 years ended without any major incident of terrorism except clashes in many cities where situations were under-control before any sever causuality. A clash in Lahore where PTI and PML-N workers opened fire at each other left 9 injured in Chungi Amar Sidhu. Workers of both parties engaged in a fight also in ward number 1 of Cantonment Board.
In Sialkot when Khawaja Asif reached the cantonment after the polling, the workers of PTI started chanting their slogans and stopped the car of Khawaja Asif. When PML-N workers reached there after hearing about the incident, workers of both parties clashed against each other and rangers were called to control the situation.
In Sindh PPP workers attacked the supporters of the independent candidate Abdul Rehman Pathan who were celebrating their candidate’s success. Both sides of supporters started beating each other while batons were also used. Rangers were called there to control the situation.
All polling stations of Gujranwala were declared sensitive and many incidents of clashes were reported. Police arrested 7 people for casting fake votes in Gujranwala.
In Sargodha when PML-N candidate malik Ashraf took an elderly man to cast his vote, the polling agent of PTI stopped the polling till ranger and police reached and controlled the situation.
