KARACHI (Daily Dunya) - Additional Inspector General Karachi while taking notice of Sabeen Mahmood’s assassination made an investigation team.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Dr. Jameel has been designated to supervise the probe process whereas Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South, SSP investigation South, SDP and SHP Defence have also been included in the team.
Earlier, Director of The Second Floor T2F has on Friday been shot dead by unidentified men in Karachi while returning home from her café in Sunset Lane, Karachi. Sabeen was on her way to home along with her mother when she was attacked. Her mother has also been critically injured but guard remained safe, reported Dunya News.
Sabeen’s dead body has been shifted to Jinnah Hospital according to hospital management. Hospital management told that her body received 5 bullets.
SSP South has said that Sabeen had been receiving threats. He said that her phone call record will be checked in order to get to the bottom of this horrific murder.
An event was held at T2F on Friday titled #UnsilencingBalochistan and she was returning just after holding the event when she was targeted. Wusatullah Khan, Mama Qadeer, Farzana Baloch and Mir Muhammad Ali Talpur attended the event.
T2F has always been described as a community space for open dialogue and Sabeen had been her founder director. Although it is a book store and café in its outlook, it is actually a space for intellectuals of all kinds, a place where they can share their thoughts with each other. Even the subjects most feared to be discussed in open were discussed by the people of intellect on this forum.
As soon as the news was aired on the TV, Twitter was abuzz with condemnation and demands for justice for Sabeen.
