Summary The Quetta ATC had sentenced the Ali Gul to death in 2004
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Friday has upheld the verdict of Quetta Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) by rejecting the clemency appeal of death row inmate in killings of at least two pilgrims who were on way to Iran from Quetta.
The SC rejected the second plea of criminal Ali Gul seeking review of his death sentence upholding the ATC’s decision. The petitioner’s counsel maintained in the court that his client has reached an agreement with the families of the killed pilgrims.
The SC told Gul’s counsel that an act of terror could not be subdued by an agreement, according to the Anti-Terrorism Act. The Quetta ATC had sentenced the criminal to death in 2004 and he would be hanged on April 18.
