Summary Injuries were suffered by over a hundred people

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) -- A boy was killed and over 100 people were injured in incidents involving kite flying as the festival of Basant took its toll.

The boy in question, suffered a fatal accident when he fell off the roof chasing kites.

Injuries were suffered by over a hundred people who came in contact with chemical threads used in kite flying.

Electric transformers in some areas of Rawalpindi also suffered the consequences of illegal kite flying.

The citizens of Rawalpindi enjoyed Basant as the day saw the fesitivity in full swing throughout the city. People indulged in kite flying on Thursday night and the festivity continued to peak till after Friday prayers.

Lahore High Court and Punjab government’s ban on kite flying was disregarded by the local population.

Throughout the day police was not effective in enforcing the ban of kite flying though as evening approached, it arrested some of the perpetrators to offer mere lip service to the court order.
