Summary Mirza was convicted in K-Electric's MD's murder case

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh High Court’s bench on Friday concluded petition seeking suspension of death row inmate Saulat Mirza, scheduled to be executed on March 19, and ruled that the petitioner should move Supreme Court against the death warrants.

The death warrant of Saulat Mirza, the convict in K-Electric MD Shahid Hamid’s murder case, was issued by an Anti-Terrorism court on March 11 and is scheduled to be executed on March 19.

Reportedly, Mirza’s sister Sumaira Wajahat had filed a petition in Sindh High Court seeking suspension of the death warrant. She appeared before court along with her attorney and submitted that Mirza’s appeal is under hearing in Supreme Court and therefore the warrant be suspended until the apex court rules on the appeal.

In its remarks, the bench said that if their appeal is in process at Supreme Court then that’s the relevant forum to be filed.
