Senate Elections: PPP wins 7 out of 11 seats in Sindh

Summary MQM won 4 seats in the Senate elections in Sindh

KARACHI (Dunya News) -- Sindh Assembly cast its votes to select its quota of 7 senators from the province today. 163 out of 167 members cast their votes. All of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidates, numbering 5, were successful in their bid to become senators.

The successful candidates included former Interior Minister Rehman Malik and former State Minister Mandivala which got 20 votes each.
Former State Minister Islamuddin Sheikh and former Minister Engineer Gayan Chand also won the elections on People Party’s ticket. Islamuddin got 24 while Gayan Chand got 21 votes.

The fifth ticket holder from People’s Party who won in the elections was Abdul Latif Ansari, who got 21 votes.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) candidates, Khuhbakht Shujaat and Mian Muhammad Attique also won the Senate elections garnering 21 votes each.

MQM and PPP’s candidates had previously been elected without contest on seats reserved for technocrats’ and women, with two seats each.
Out of 11 seats for senators, PPP won 7 while MQM won 4.
