LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government on Tuesday has issued the Maintenance of Public Ordinance according to which the denunciation of the government’s counter-terrorism actions and giving statements in favour of terrorists would be considered crimes.
According to the ordinance, anybody who disapproves of the government’ actions to curb terrorism would be punished. Moreover, strict action will be taken against anybody who gives statements favouring terrorists.
The uniforms of the security agencies’ officials will only be prepared by the authorised companies. The recording of the public addresses has also been declared mandatory. These recordings will be handed over to the local police station. The violation of any one of the clauses or all of the clauses may lead of as many as six years of imprisonment or fine ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1 lac. These punishments can be given simultaneously.
