ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The National Assembly on Friday approved the resolution of extension of 120 days in the Gas Infrastructure Development Cess Ordinance 2014 which was presented by the government while the opposition protested against the act and bordered the rostrum of the Speaker National Assembly.
According to the details, Secretary for Petroleum Shahzadi Umerzadi Tiwana presented the resolution of the extension of at least 120 days in the Gas Infrastructure Development Cess Ordinance 2014 upon which the opposition demonstrated a protest. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) members tore the copies of the resolution and bordered the rostrum of the Speaker National Assembly. They raised “unacceptable” slogans.
The session was chaired by Deputy Speaker National Assembly Mutaza Javed Abbasi.
However, the National Assembly approved the resolution irrespective of the protest upon which the protesters demonstrated a walk out of the assembly as protest against the approval of the extension.
The Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) members also demonstrated a walk out of the assembly in wake of Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) behavior.
PPP member Uzra Afzal raised the matter of petrol shortage in the assembly upon which federal minister Khawaja Asif said that the shortage would end within at least 10 to 12 days. He said that electricity outages would also decrease after as many as three to four months.
