ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar on Wednesday has said that at least 47 criminals who have been sentenced to death penalties have been shortlisted and the process of hanging them until death would be done speedily.

He expressed these views while talking to the media after the meeting to review the implementation of the National Action Plan.

He said that the execution of Shafqat Hussain has been stopped. Nisar said that a DNA test would be conducted to determine the age of Hussain while the execution of the rest of the shortlisted criminals would be done soon.

The Interior Minister said that media is an efficient monitoring mechanism. He urged the media to black out terrorists and news about them. He also said that the 1717 helpline is not a joke and only terrorism related suspicious activities must be reported. Only 20 percent of the calls received on the helpline serve the purpose while the rest are just hoax, he added.

Nisar said that at least 600 calls are received everyday on the 1717 helpline. Husbands and wives make calls to complain about each other, he added. Nisar also said that Pakistan is going through a difficult phase and nobody should misunderstand the fact that the war against terrorism has not ended yet. Operations are being conducted in the entire country on the basis of intelligence reports, he added.

Nisar said that the government is taking help of as many as 1,550 volunteers for operations against terrorists.

While answering a question, Chaudhry Nisar said that once Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan announces his marriage, he would congratulate him for sure.
