ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk, on Friday constituted a bench to hear appeals of prisoners sentenced to death.
A three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa will hear the pleas between Jan 5-9.
Cases of army officer Mohammad Mushtaq and Lance Naek Mukarram Hussain, who were sentenced to death, will also be heard by the Supreme Court next month.
In this regard, the apex court has issued notices to offices of the Attorney General and Prosecutor General.
The government last month lifted the moratorium on death penalty in terrorism-related cases in the wake of the terrorism attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar Dec 16 which resulted in the loss of over 140 lives, most of them students.
