LAHORE/ HAFIZABAD (Dunya News) — At least 10 people got injured as a gas cylinder exploded in a house at Tariq Colony in Chungi Amar Sadhu in Lahore on Monday.
The cylinder exploded while the residents were preparing for breakfast injuring 10 people, two of which have been critically injured. Rescue teams found it difficult to reach the site of incident as the area was densely populated and the streets leading to the house were quite narrow.
Eight of the injured people were shifted to the nearby General Hospital while the two critically injured kids were taken to Jinnah Hospital.
In Bahawalpura area of Hafizabad, at least three people got injured as the stove caught fire causing the ceiling to cave in. The injured viz Zain Ali, his grandmother and another person were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
According to the details, dwellers had left the gas pipe open the night before that caused the gas leakage hence filling the room. Fire broke out as soon as Zain lit the matchstick.
Low quality LPG cylinders have put lives at stake while the relevant departments hesitate to take action against the vendors.
