Summary Peshawar school attack has united the nation, the Prime Minister said.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Wednesday) chaired a meeting of parliamentary leaders in Islamabad to finalise a national plan of action to counter terrorism.
Awami National Party leaders Ghulam Ahmad Bilour and Afrasiab Khattak, MQM leader Babar Ghouri, opposition leader in Azad Kashmir Assembly Raja Farooq Haider, KP Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan and CM Pervez Khattak, Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, JI Ameer Sirajul Haq, MNA Tariqullah, Imran Khan, JUI-F chief and others are attended the meeting.
Top army officials including Army Chief General Raheel Sharif were also present in the meeting.
Addressing the participants, the Prime Minister stated that terrorism has become cancer which should be rooted out by all means.
He said the government initiated dialogue process with militants to peacefully resolve the issue but they left no option after attack on Karachi airport and forced us to launch operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan tribal region.
Zarb-e-Azb operation is successfully progressing, he added.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed not to allow their soils to be used by the terrorists. Afghan leadership is also committed to eliminate terrorism.
“We had constructive talks with Afghan leadership and decided to bilaterally resolve all issues,” he added.
Nawaz Sharif said the barbaric incident of Peshawar school attack has united the entire nation and it is now looking towards the political leaders to take the right decisions.
He said the country is passing through extraordinary situation which requires extraordinary steps. The history and the nation will not forgive us if we failed to rid the country of this menace.
No religion permits the killing of innocent children, Peshawar incident is the worst example in history, he said.
He said “we must demonstrate total unity to eliminate terrorism.”
The Prime Minister said all the political parties should demonstrate unity and discuss the concerns if they have any on any issue.
