Summary At least 60,000 people have lost their lives to terrorism, says the corps commander
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Corps Commander Karachi Lt General Naveed Mukhtar on Thursday has said that only politicians could restore the peace in the city of Quaid-e-Azam, Karachi.
He expressed these views while addressing the participants of a seminar held in connection with the defense exhibition IDEAS 2014.
He said that the Pakistan Army would continue an operation against terrorists and criminals but the stability in the city could only be restored on political grounds.
Lt General Mukhtar said that terrorism and drug mafia has lead to an increase in extremism in the city.
The extensive networks of terrorism would be seized but it would take time, he added.
He further said that terrorism has caused death of at least 60,000 citizens of Pakistan and that it has damaged the urban areas of the city to a great extent.
