Summary Pakistan has signed many agreements regarding railway transport and energy sector at SAARC

KATHMANDU (Dunya News) – Adviser to Prime Minister (PM) on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday has said that neither Pakistan met Indian officials nor they have met Pakistani delegation during the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) conference and that chances of meeting Indian PM Narendra Modi are frail.

He expressed these views while giving a briefing to the representatives of the media outlets in Kathmandu.

He said that had India not suspended negotiations with Pakistan on August 25, it would have been a second meeting between the delegations of the two countries at SAARC after the one in New York.

Aziz said that negotiations would have been good for the economic development of both the countries.

He also said that Pakistan is in the favour of China’s membership at SAARC but India has some reservations over the matter.

Aziz said that Turkey wants to be the observer at the SAARC conference.

While answering a question about his discussion with Bangladesh PM Hasina Wajid about the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders, he said that no such matter has been talked about with PM Wajid.

Reportedly, Pakistan has signed many agreements regarding railway transport and energy sector at the SAARC conference.
