Summary Sit-in protesters are trying to destroy the peaceful environment of the country, says Rehman
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Fazalur Rehman on Tuesday has said that they do not acknowledge sit-in politics as threat and that Majlis-e-Shoora has decided to start a movement against poverty and for the implementation of "Islamic system" in Pakistan.
He expressed these views while talking to the media at his residence in Islamabad.
He said that chanting slogans and giving the people false hopes would not change the system of the country and that sit-in politics has come to an end now.
Fazalur Rehman stated that sit-in protesters are trying to destroy the peaceful environment and spreading violence but they do not consider sit-in politics as a threat.
While answering a question about South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), he said that Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan went to participate in oath taking ceremony of Indian PM Narendra Modi and shook hands with him for better relations between both the countries which is a good gesture.
Indian behaviour is extremist and discriminatory like it has been in the past, he added.
Rehman further demanded of the government to withdraw its appeal to reconsider interest system from Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan and fulfill its promise of establishment of "Islamic system" in the country.
