One policeman killed, 4 injured in separate attacks in Karachi

Summary Attacks on police could be a result of recent targeted operation in Karachi, an official said.

KARACHi (Web Desk) – One policeman was killed while four others sustained injuries in separate attacks in the troubled metropolis on Friday morning, Dunya News reported.

Unknown suspects opened fire on a police van in Brigade Police Station premises in Lines Area, injuring two policemen. They were shifted to a nearby hospital, however, one of the cop succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased has been identified as ASI Arshad Tanoli.

Separately, At least three people including two policemen were injured when unknown miscreants hurled a cracker bomb on a police van near Tibet Center on MA Jinnah Road.

On the other hand, two gang war suspects including Mairaj and Abdul Basit were arrested during encounter with police in Garden area. The suspects claimed that Ayaz Bangali of Sheraz Comrade Group force them to carry out criminal activities. They confessed to involvement in hundreds of criminal activities during last three years.

According to a police official, hand grenades, pistol, mobile and a motorcycle has been seized from their possession.

A sub-inspector allegedly involved in collection of extortion has been arrested in Mithadar area. According to SP City Sheraz Nazir, sub-inspector Muhammad Urs was performing his duties in AVCC.

During raid in Napier area, police have arrested three target killers who are allegedly involved in killing of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers.
