KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Sindh Assembly has passed the bill for controlling the spread of epidemics and identification and treatment of Tuberculosis (TB) patients. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) members seemed to be divided on the subject of setting up university in Hyderabad. MQM could not be allotted the opposition seats in today’s session.

Sindh Assembly’s session started late by an hour on Monday under the headship of Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani. One-minute of silence was observed in view of the tragic Kot Radha Kishan incident.

MQM’s Rashid Khilji demanded establishment of a university in Hyderabad. Education Minister Nisar Khuhro said that there are various private universities already working in Hyderabad. He said that the university in Jam Shoro is for the people of Hyderabad. There was exchange of some harsh words between MQM and PPP members during the session on the issue of setting up university in Hyderabad.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Sikandar Mendro presented the bill for controlling the spread of epidemics. MQM suggested a few changes in the bill which were rejected by the majority of the house. The house adopted the bill with majority.

On the question of Thar, PPP leader Sharjeel Memon said that the leaked report that is being associated with Manzoor Wasaan is misleading. “I will leave politics if the details presented in that report are proven right”, said Sharjeel. MQM leader Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan said that government is responsible for the deaths of children in Thar.

Provincial Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Sikandar Mendro presented the bill for the diagnosis and treatment of the TB patients. The bill was passed after discussion on it in the session. The session has been adjourned till Tuesday morning.
