Summary Gen. Raheel Sharif is visiting Afghanistan on a formal invitation by the Afghan army chief of staff.
KABUL (Web Desk) - Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has arrived in Afghanistan on Thursday to meet with the Afghan officials.
During his visit to Kabul, the Army Chief will meet Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, Defence Minister, National Security Advisor and senior military officials.
This is the second visit by a senior Pakistani official following the formation of the new Afghan unity government.
Earlier Pakistan’s national security adviser Sartaj Aziz visited Kabul to meet with the new Afghan leadership in a bid to improve ties between the two nations.
The visit by General Sharif to Kabul comes as the US Department of Defense accused Pakistan in its latest report for using militant groups as `proxy forces` to carry out attacks in Afghanistan.
