Summary The PTI supporters will continue sit-ins until they get justice, says Imran

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has said that the PTI has a solid ideology and vision and that the PTI ideology to make Pakistan an Islamic state goes hand in hand with that of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI). He also said that rigging in the General Elections 2013 could be investigated according to the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.

The PTI Chairman expressed these views in a press conference after his meeting with JI Ameer Sirajul Haq on Wednesday. Khan said that the General Elections 2013 witnessed rigging, worst of its kind and that implementation of laws was important. He said that the government was trying to hide behind a stay order instead of helping out limiting elements behind rigging. He said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and Returning Officers (ROs) were in pockets of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government.

Khan also said that the party supporters would stay in Islamabad until they get  justice  and that Dr Tahirul Qadri’s retrieval did not mean that the PTI would also leave. He said that there was a possibility to end sit-ins if a neutral inquiry of rigging was done under supervision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP).

Speaking on the PTI members’ resignations, Khan said that the PTI members have submitted their resignations because they did not have faith in the prime minister (PM) of the country and that having said that, how could the party members show faith in the Parliament.

JI Ameer said that it was a meeting between two parties of the country and not between two leaders and that both the parties wanted establishment of an Islamic state and an end to the status quo. He said that both the PTI and the JI wanted a country where there is justice and equality for all. He said that both the parties were independent in their decisions.

Sirajul Haq urged the PTI leadership to collaborate for a better working relationship with the JI and said that the JI did not want to disrupt good relations with the PTI. He said that there was a need to improve the system and that the recent rigging has put question mark on the capabilities of the system. He said that lack of respect for the polls would lead Pakistan to a disaster in future. Haq also said that his stance has been clear from the beginning which was to carry on talks with the government, adding that the government was now not seemingly interested in talks. He said that the government was not committed to shoulder its responsibilities.
