Summary There is a possibility to lessen fares if diesel price is Rs 93, says transporters' union president
KARACHI (Dunya News): Sindh Minister of Transport Mumtaz Jakhrani deliberated over intercity bus fares with the city transporters on Wednesday, for three hours, resultantly, the intercity bus fare will be seven percent cheaper from tomorrow (Thursday) onwards.
The new fare scheme will apply to air conditioned (AC) as well as non-AC buses, however, the parties did not decide to lessen bus fares of public transport. The city transporters argued for one-day time to think over the matter. Karachi Transport Union President Arshad Bukhari said that the government would be informed about the bus fares tomorrow, after the union s General Body meeting. He also said that there was a possibility to lessen fares if diesel price was Rs 93 or less. Jakhrani said that the government did not want to force transporters to lessen fares on gun point.
