Summary PTI MNAs have to follow due legal process if they want to resign, he said.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) -- The Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah on Thursday claimed that the government is under pressure not to accept the resignation, adding that the system faces no threat if PTI resignations are accepted, Dunya News reported.

Addressing the media, Shah said that PTI has to fulfill the due legal process if it wants to resign.

Khursheed Shah insisted that he doesn’t see midterm elections in near future given the current circumstances.

He said the Election Commission officials cannot be ousted and that they should resign.

Earlier, the Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq wrote to the Election Commission of Pakistan to inform that the resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers were not verified.

It was stated in the letter written to the ECP that PTI’s resignations could not be verified despite efforts. The letter does not mention anything about acceptance or rejection of the resignations.

According to the details, this letter has been written in response to ECP’s letter of September 16.

Meanwhile, PTI MNA Asad Umar said that PTI MNAs have already tendered their resignations and that they will not retract. He said if the Speaker gives them the chance then they can announce their resignations in the National Assembly.

Addressing the media, Asad Umar challenged the Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq to allow PTI MNAs to announce resignation in the parliament.

He alleged that the Speaker allowed former PTI president Javed Hashmi to speak in NA due to the government’s blessing.

PTI leader said that PTI MNAs have stopped accepting benefits and incentives afforded to the lawmakers. He said he has even returned his car.
