Summary Additional Home Secretary assures to release all PAT workers unconditionally
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed Punjab government to release all Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) workers. LHC declared the detention of PAT workers as illegal. Additional Home Secretary Punjab Wajahat assured LHC that all the workers will be released unconditionally.
Despite appearing three times before Justice Qasim Khan in Lahore High Court, Additional Home Secretary was unable to present any written record regarding detention of PAT workers. Honorable judge expressed displeasure on the issue. Justice Qasim Khan remarked, “Don’t you know how a family feels if a family-member is in jail? Why should court not invoke contempt of court proceedings against you? Government has itself messed up the situation. If workers are involved in illegal activities, why is their head not being caught?”
After assurances given by Additional Home Secretary regarding release of PAT workers, court dismissed all the petitions and ordered to release all the workers after 10 minutes of court orders. Honourable judge said that such mistake must not be repeated.
