Parliament passes unanimous resolution in favour of democracy

Summary Resolution says that Parliament condemns all undemocratic demands, attack of govt buildings

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – A unanimous resolution has been passed in the joint session of Parliament’s lower and upper houses in which all the undemocratic demands of the protesters have been condemned. The Parliamentary Resolution against the sit-ins and in favour of democracy was presented by Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar today (Friday) on the last day of the Joint Session.

Content of the resolution says that Parliament resolves that Parliament’s supremacy under the constitution of Pakistan and respect of people’s aspirations are above everything else. Parliament condemns the attacks of Parliament House, Pakistan Television (PTV) and other buildings. Parliament strongly condemns the sit-ins. Parliament condemns all the unconstitutional demands. Encircling of Parliament House has been condemned. Parliament esteems the voices of political parties and civil society in favour of democracy.

The resolution was passed unanimously by the joint session of the Upper and Lower houses of the Parliament.
