Summary PPP is supporting government only to protect democracy, says Aitzaz Ahsan.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News)— Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan addressing the joint session of the Parliament on Friday said that he was offered premiership by the former military ruler, Pervez Musharraf. Aitzaz strongly condemned the accusations leveled against him by Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, saying that he would give a stern response to the accusers. The senior PPP leader talked about his struggle for democracy in Pakistan. He said that he first entered national politics during his student years. He holds the honor of becoming the youngest political prisoner in the history of Pakistan, said Aitzaz. I have been offered millions of rupees to withdraw from some important cases but I rejected those offers for the sake of national interest. I am a worker of PPP and I can’t go against my country for wealth or office titles, stressed Aitzaz. He urged that PPP leadership had advised PML-N leaders on the first day of the joint parliament session to refrain from profane and foul language. He claimed that he can walk out from the parliament with the entire opposition. PPP stands in support of the government only to protect democracy and constitution, said Aitzaz.
