Summary The local court has rejected the plea of the former president seeking exemption from appearance.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A local court here on Thursday rejected the petition of former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf seeking exemption from appearance in Abdul Rashid Ghazi murder case.
The court in its ruling ordered Pervez Musharraf to appear on July 1 otherwise action will be taken against his guarantors. The court also summoned guarantors of the former president.
Additional Session Judge Wajid Ali Durrani heard Gahzi Abdul Rashid murder case. Two guarantors of the former president appeared before the court.
Pervez Musharraf s counsel Akhtar Shah submitted the medical report of his client to the court.
The one-page medical report by Dr Imtiaz says that Pervez Musharraf is suffering from severe back pain and he has been advised to avoid travel and he needs complete rest.
Raising objection over the medical report, counsel of the petitioner took the stance that this was just a prescription by the doctor and not a medical report.
Musharaaf s lawyer Akhtar Shah said that the medical reports show that the final challan has been prepared but its copy has not been prepared so far.
Upon this, Judge Wajid Ali Durrani remarked that police have not yet submitted the final challan to the court.
Advocate Akhtar Shah said Pervez Musharraf had been declared innocent as per the challan. He said id the accused is declared innocent then there seems no justification that he should appear in the court.
Akhtar Shah further said despite all this Pervez Musharraf is ready to appear in the court but he needs tight security on this occasion. He said the former president will appear in the court when his doctors will permit him.
A plea was also filed on behalf of Pervez Musharraf seeking court exemption for one day (today.)
