ISLAMABAD (Online): US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday.
During the meeting, bilateral relations and regional issues were discussed.
The meeting was also attended by US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
The US Deputy Secretary of State Ambassador William J. Burns also called on the Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and discussed Pakistan-US bilateral relations and regional issues.
The Adviser emphasized the importance Pakistan attaches to stronger Pakistan-US cooperation and expressed satisfaction on the progress made in this regard since the visit of the Prime Minister to Washington last year.
The US Deputy Secretary of State also recalled the Adviser’s visit to Washington in January this year for the Ministerial Review of the Pakistan-US Strategic Dialogue. Both discussed cooperation in education and science and technology areas under the umbrella of strategic dialogue.
The Adviser emphasized the importance of peace and stability in Afghanistan and expressed satisfaction over the successful conclusion of the first phase of election in April this year.
