Summary Dr Abdul Qayyum Soomro has been elected on the Senate seat after resignation of Faisal Raza Abidi.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday notified Dr. Abdul Qayyum Soomro of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) as Senator-elect from the seat vacated by PPP’s Faisal Raza Abidi.
Dr Abdul Qayyum was elected as Senator last year but the ECP objected and he moved Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the decision but later he withdrew his petition.
Dr Abdul Qayyum joined PPP after he resigned from government service in 2008. He served as political Adviser to former president Asif Ali Zardari for five years.
Dr Abdul Qayyum has two sons and two daughters. Qayyum’s younger brother Abdul Basit is also associated with PPP.
