Summary Reportedly, US agent was in Pakistan for three months to train local police.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – It was decided on Wednesday to release American intelligence agency Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) agent Joel Cox – arrested earlier by Karachi police – on bail, Dunya News reported.
According to reports, police had been facing severe pressure over the arrest of the US agent and authorities had ordered the police to take immediate measures security agent’s release.
According to Dunya News sources, it has been decided to release agent Cox on bail.
US federal agent Cox was taken into custody from Karachi airport and US authorities had confirmed that Cox was appointed from Miami state’s field office.
Reportedly, agent Cox was here on 3 month to train Pakistani police. American authorities maintain that Cox was not armed during travel and that the bullets were recovered from his luggage.
Meanwhile, US State Department also said that diplomatic staff in Pakistan is in contact with Pakistani authorities to ensure US agent’s release.
Agent Joel Cox was taken into custody when 15 bullets of 9mm pistol were recovered from his luggage at Karachi airport during departure. During questioning, Cox introduced himself as an employee of US consulate.
